Hamburg/Garbsen/Hammah, 21 January 2025. Cureus, an integrated property company that specialises in developing and actively managing its own care home portfolio, has completed the Lebens- und Gesundheitszentrums ‘Haus Momentum – Im Hier und Jetzt gut leben’ with 113 care places for inpatient long-term and short-term care. The property was handed over to the operator WH Care in summer 2024 in preparation for the opening. This recently took place in January 2025.
The new building is located at Osterheide 1a in 21714 Hammah (Lower Saxony). The town is near Hamburg. The company H. Hesemann GmbH from Stadland acted as general contractor.
Lilli Braunagel, project manager at Cureus, is delighted: ‘Following the successful handover to our experienced operator partner WH Care in summer 2024, a property that has been completed to high energy standards can now start operating as a care centre. The concept of the building is based on our unique system approach, which focuses in particular on the needs of the residents and the operator's employees. We wish the residents and the WH Care team all the best in the new life and health centre ‘Haus Momentum’ in Hammah!’
Martin Matthews is the manager of the WH Care facility in Hammah, which is part of the VidaCura group of companies operating throughout Germany and was named Operator of the Year 2024. Martin Matthews emphasises: ‘Our new life and health centre “Haus Momentum” is now fully equipped and the team for the launch has already been able to familiarise itself with the conditions. We celebrated the opening with the first residents on 15 January 2025 so that we can now gradually ramp up occupancy over the coming months and gently establish the processes within the team. We are still looking for motivated employees in Hammah to gradually expand our care capacity. Residents can also continue to contact us. In addition to focussing on health promotion, we attach great importance to meaningfulness, social relationships and being able to make a difference.’

Modern living and health centre with social living group concept
The U-shaped building of the Lebens- und Gesundheitszentrum ‘Haus Momentum’ was constructed as a three-storey building with an additional staggered storey and blends in with its surroundings. A total of around 5,900 square metres of barrier-free gross floor area was created in accordance with the KfW's energy-saving Efficiency House 40 standard. The straightforward and modern façade was partially clinkered and blends in perfectly with the surrounding buildings thanks to its light colour scheme.
The Lebens- und Gesundheitszentrum ‘Haus Momentum’ has a total of 113 modern and generously proportioned single rooms, 50 of which are not only barrier-free but also wheelchair-accessible. On the ground floor of ‘Haus Momentum’, behind the friendly and hotel-like entrance area with reception and foyer, there is a lounge and a spacious restaurant with a fresh kitchen and sun terrace. In keeping with the open house concept, this is also available to neighbouring residents and guests of the residence and will thus enable residents to socialise with each other and their living environment. The property also has its own laundry for residents' laundry and several care bathrooms.
All rooms in ‘Haus Momentum’ are single rooms, each with its own bathroom and telephone, internet and television connection. It is possible to furnish the rooms yourself to create privacy and a place of retreat. 'Haus Momentum' is divided into a maximum of six residential groups, one each on the ground and top floors and two each on the other two upper floors. The residential group concept is designed to ensure a homely, family-like atmosphere. To this end, each residential group has an attractively designed communal room as the centre of the residential group with a kitchen and dining area as well as a terrace, roof terrace or balcony, which will strengthen social contacts between the residents. Premium Light rooms are also available, i.e. particularly high-quality and additional facilities for customers who want to live as if they were in a hotel.
Ideal location and optimal accessibility
The Lebens- und Gesundheitszentrum ‘Haus Momentum’ is located right in the centre of Hammah. In addition to direct access to the green surroundings, the new supermarket with café, the church, doctors and social facilities are just a few minutes' walk away. The nearby bus stop and railway station connect Hammah perfectly with the towns and communities in the surrounding area. Ten bicycle parking spaces and 19 car parking spaces – two of which are disabled-friendly – have been created on the grounds of the life and health centre. This ensures excellent accessibility for visitors and care staff. The park-like outdoor areas are also available to residents to promote exercise, health, relaxation and socialising.

Cureus proprietary standard guarantees best-in-class construction
‘Haus Momentum’ has been designed and built in accordance with the Cureus standard for system care homes. This places great importance on uniform, high quality standards and is oriented, among other things, towards the requirements of the operators, focusing on the residents and care staff. In this way, the structural processes and all properties are optimised from the inside to the outside: This concerns, for example, the size and arrangement of rooms to optimize space and walkways. Cureus care homes are also designed and equipped for maximum utility: interior corridors benefit from as much daylight as possible, every room has floor-to-ceiling windows that provide attractive views of the surrounding area, and the modern bathrooms and window fronts always follow the same standardised system approach. Each complex’s architecture and facade incorporate individual touches and are constructed to the highest quality standards, integrating seamlessly into their surroundings. The Cureus system approach also prioritises sustainability, both in terms of a care home’s long-term economic viability and its impact on the environment. All Cureus care homes are, for example, constructed in accordance with the ‘Effizienhaus-40-Standard’, while the bulk procurement of floor coverings or elevator systems, for example, ensures cost synergies and long-term maintenance contracts covering several properties also reduce costs for care home operators. The constant review and optimisation of the Cureus system care home standard guarantees the construction of care homes that truly meet demand.
