Hamburg/Winsen (Aller)/Melle, 24 March 2022. Cureus, an integrated property company that specialises in developing its own care home portfolio, together with Lavendio, the future operator of the new senior residence in Melle, yesterday celebrated the topping-out ceremony with a select group of approximately 70 invited guests, including the Mayor of Melle, Jutta Dettmann, the head of the municipal planning office Frithjof Look and Katja Rauer from the seniors’ advisory board. Having hoisted the traditional topping-out wreath, Cureus and Lavendio provided detailed information on the future senior residence. Catering was provided and interested guests were also able to take a first tour of the now completed building shell. The site of the under-construction residence is located at Kosakenallee 11 in 49324 Melle (Lower Saxony), the general contractor is MBN GmbH.

“Construction is well on schedule and we wanted to celebrate reaching this important stage of the project together with our guests and, above all, the teams involved in construction”, says a delighted Uwe Poganiatz-Heine, the project manager overseeing the development of the new residence at Cureus. “With the completion of the roof, we can now move on to the residence’s interior and are largely independent of the weather moving forwards. I am optimistic that we will be able to hand the residence over to our operating partner Lavendio as planned in late autumn 2022”.

MBN’s office manager Carsten Völkerding is also delighted by the way construction is progressing: “With Cureus, we have a client in the field of system care real estate with whom we share a partnership-based approach. Here in Melle, too, the interaction between our construction teams is characterised by respect, transparency and the desire to find mutually beneficial solutions”.

Elvira Schulze, Managing Director of Lavendio Seniorenresidenzen, is overjoyed: “It is incredible to see our new senior residence in Melle taking shape. We, too, would like to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone on the construction team for making sure that the project has gone so smoothly. Many thanks also to the guests for their kind words and best wishes for the new care home in Melle, where we will soon be offering short-term care alongside full inpatient care”.

The new senior residence in Melle will be a barrier-free building with three full stories and a recessed top floor, designed and built to sustainable KfW 40 energy-efficiency standards. The property’s flat roof will be largely greened and heating will be provided by an environmentally-friendly combined heat and power unit (CHP), which will also generate electricity. The modern, rectilinear facade will be an architectural eye-catcher and its colour scheme will blend harmoniously with the surrounding buildings. Each of the 126 single rooms will be equipped to modern standards and will feature its own bathroom. Residents will be able to move in with their own furnishings and accessories if they wish. In addition, 38 of the rooms will be fully wheelchair accessible. The residence will also include a restaurant with fresh cuisine, an in-house laundry, a hair and pedicure salon, a lounge-style fireplace room with library, and therapy rooms. The spacious, park-like outdoor facilities will be available to all residents for exercise, relaxation and socialising.
