Hamburg/Hanover/Rathenow, 6 December 2023. Cureus, an integrated property company that specialises in developing and actively managing its own inpatient care home portfolio, and compassio, as the future operator of the senior residence in Rathenow, yesterday hosted a topping-out ceremony. Among the guests was also Jörg Zietemann, mayor of the city of Rathenow. The traditional ceremony featured a topping-out wreath, speeches, and the hammering in of the final nail into the roof structure. About 40 visitors enjoyed food and drink after the ceremony and were keen to find out more about the new senior residence. The construction site is located at Kleine Waldemarstraße/Fehrbelliner Straße in 14712 Rathenow, Brandenburg. The general contractor for the construction work is Schneider Systembau from Radeburg.

"Our construction project is progressing quickly and according to plan. The new senior residence is already clearly recognisable," says Helge Feuereiß, the project manager responsible at Cureus. "We would therefore like to celebrate the construction progress in the traditional way with everyone involved in the building work and thank them for what they have achieved so far. With the completion of the roof, we are now independent of the weather and can now fully tackle the interior work. I am optimistic that we will be able to hand over the building to our proven, professional operating partner compassio for an opening at the beginning of 2025 as planned."

Dirk Lorscheider, Managing Director of compassio, also thanks the teams on the construction site and is delighted with the progress of the project at the company's third location in Brandenburg: "A unique building with a feel-good character is being created here, which will be characterised by a high-quality, age-appropriate interior design and exterior architecture as well as friendly, modern and senior-friendly living areas. With our concept of "open residences", we promote social and community contact between residents and their local environment. In addition to the highest quality standards in care and nursing, we also offer an attractive programme of events and leisure activities to ensure that our residents feel completely at ease."

In total, around 80 new and crisis-proof full and part-time jobs will be created in the areas of nursing, care, housekeeping, administration, kitchen and building services.

State-of-the-art care with comprehensive service offer

The compassio senior residence in Rathenow is being built on a plot of around 8,800 square metres directly at the city centre and will have a gross floor area of around 7,400 square metres. The J-shaped building will be built as an energy-optimised KfW Efficiency House 40. Heating will be ecologically sustainable via a combined heat and power unit (CHP), which will also generate electricity.

The barrier-free residence extends over four full storeys and a staggered storey. Future residents will have 140 modern care places in generously designed single rooms with en-suite bathrooms, half of the rooms are wheelchair-accessible. It is possible to furnish the rooms oneself in order to maintain privacy and as a private retreat. For a familiar, social togetherness, the rooms are divided into eight independently organised living groups with associated kitchen and lounge area as well as balcony or terrace.

A restaurant with a kitchen and terrace is planned for the ground floor of the senior residence, which is open to residents and visitors. A hotel-like reception with an inviting foyer, a fireside lounge, a hairdresser and modern nursing bathrooms round off the services offered to residents.

The friendly designed, spacious outdoor facilities in the inner courtyard invite the residents to exercise and meet outside. However, they will also offer sufficient opportunities to linger in nature.

Optimal location and accessibility

Located directly at Rathenow's city centre, local shopping, social and cultural facilities as well as churches and doctors will be easily accessible. The connection to public transport is also ensured and 20 car parking spaces on the premises, two of which are handicapped accessible, as well as bicycle parking facilities ensure optimal accessibility for residents, visitors and staff.

Well thought out standard ensures individuality and highest building quality

The Seniorenresidenz Rathenow will be designed and built in accordance with the Cureus standard for system care homes. This places great importance on uniform, high quality standards and is oriented, among other things, towards the requirements of the operators, focusing on the residents and care staff. In this way, the structural processes and all properties are optimised from the inside to the outside: This concerns, for example, the size and arrangement of rooms to optimize space and walkways. Cureus care homes are also designed and equipped for maximum utility: interior corridors benefit from as much daylight as possible, every room has floor-to-ceiling windows that provide attractive views of the surrounding area, and the modern bathrooms and window fronts always follow the same standardised system approach. Each complex’s architecture and facade incorporate individual touches and are constructed to the highest quality standards, integrating seamlessly into their surroundings. The Cureus system approach also prioritises sustainability, both in terms of a care home’s long-term economic viability and its impact on the environment. All Cureus care homes are, for example, constructed in accordance with the ‘Effizienhaus-40-Standard’, while the bulk procurement of floor coverings or elevator systems, for example, ensures cost synergies and long-term maintenance contracts covering several properties also reduce costs for care home operators. The constant review and optimisation of the Cureus system care home standard guarantees the construction of care homes that truly meet demand.
