Hamburg/Lüchow, 15 January 2021. Cureus GmbH specialises in the design, planning and construction of system care homes and has completed the first two construction phases of the Lüchow senior residence at Königsberger Straße 4 in Lüchow. Cureus is a new brand of the Lindhorst Group and is home to the group’s system care home solutions.

These two construction phases comprise a nursing home with 114 care places, 50 of which are wheelchair accessible, and a residential building for assisted living with 13 barrier-free units. The opening of this part of the senior residence is now planned for the beginning of February 2021 after the start of construction in autumn 2019.

The modern architecture and the clear design language of the buildings blend harmoniously into the surrounding residential development. Special attention is paid to the design of the outdoor facilities. Expansive open and green spaces create a high-quality environment for future residents to spend time and meet people. The senior residence and the apartment building also have 19 parking spaces.

The senior residence will be operated by the MEDIKO Group, the specialist care arm of the SCHÖNES LEBEN Group. Initially, 80 to 100 modern and crisis-proof jobs will be created at the Lüchow site.

In addition to the now completed construction phases, the construction of a further building section of the residence is to begin in May 2021 at the latest after the building permit has been granted. This will comprise ten units on the ground floor for out-of-hospital intensive care, for example for coma patients or patients with permanent respiratory needs, as well as 28 additional assisted living units on the first and second floors, each for one to two people. Five of these units will be wheelchair-accessible. After completion of the third construction phase, expected in March 2022, a total of 100 to 120 new jobs will have been created.

“With the first two buildings now complete, we can hand over the senior residence to the new operator MEDIKO as agreed, giving Lüchow access to modern care places with a high-quality range of care and support services”, says Rainer Schmitz, the project’s manager at Cureus.

“We are looking forward to welcoming the first residents with our team of staff in February”, says Christian Cohausz, Managing Director of the MEDIKO Group. “As soon as the pandemic allows, we will implement our ‘Open Residences’ concept, by which we promote the social contacts of the residents with the local community. At the same time, we will establish an attractive event and leisure programme so that our residents feel completely at home”.

The new residence is still looking for staff, including nursing and support staff as well as vacancies in the care and service areas. “We are positively optimistic that we will succeed in recruiting staff from Lüchow and the surrounding area. MEDIKO is an attractive and reliable employer. In addition to permanent, crisis-proof employment contracts and further training opportunities, we offer a wide range of benefits such as shopping discounts at top conditions via our employee portal, subsidies for the company pension scheme, childcare costs and a travel allowance. In addition, we offer optimal working conditions in Lüchow. The modern building offers a comfortable working environment and state-of-the-art equipment eases the workload”, says Christian Cohausz.

The Lüchow senior residence is located close to the River Jeetzel and is within walking distance of the centre of Lüchow with its wide range of shopping facilities, medical care and the Schützenpark. The residence has a restaurant with terrace, which will also be open to the public. The in-house kitchen with its own team offers a daily menu. There is also a dining room on each floor as well as a lounge for residents, and areas for therapy rooms and private parties are also available in the residence.

All three construction phases are designed and built in accordance with the Cureus standard for system care homes. This standard is based on exacting and uniform quality standards and is oriented to the needs of all stakeholders, including care home operators and residents. Care homes built to the Cureus standard are optimised in all respects and include, for example, optimised floor plans and conveniently arranged rooms and walkways. Cureus care homes are also designed and equipped for maximum utility: interior corridors benefit from as much daylight as possible, every room has floor-to-ceiling windows and the modern bathrooms and window fronts follow the same standardised system approach. All Cureus care homes are constructed in accordance with the KfW 40 energy-efficiency standard.
