Hamburg/Hannover/Dessau, 8 February 2023. Cureus, an integrated property company that specialises in developing and actively managing its own care home portfolio, has announced the completion and handover of the new compassio senior residence at Wolfgangstraße 24 in 06844 Dessau. The operator, compassio Lebensräume & Pflege, is part of the SCHÖNES LEBEN Group. MBN GmbH acted as the general contractor for the entire project.

“It was a genuine partnership from the signing of the contract all the way through to final acceptance. A big thank you to everyone involved in the construction”, says Uwe Frey, regional manager of MBN GmbH.

“The Bauhaus city of Dessau is now one important location for care richer”, Kevin Lleshi, Project Manager at Cureus, is pleased to say. “The new senior residence has been built in accordance with our state-of-the-art system care home standards and architectural guidelines. Modern, well-proportioned care rooms with generous glazing, combined with a bright, friendly facade, make this a residence to truly feel at home in. And, with compassio on board as the new residence’s vastly experienced operator, we know the new property is in the best possible hands. We would like to thank everyone who has been involved in construction for ensuring that the project has been implemented so smoothly and wish its residents and the compassio team all the best in their brand-new senior residence!”

“We are delighted by the successful completion of our second location in Saxony-Anhalt after Magdeburg and would like to take this opportunity to thank the team on site and the employees in all of the departments of compassio Holding in Hanover for their valuable support”, says Nicole Schütze, Regional Manager East of compassio Holding GmbH. “The first residents moved into the new senior residence at the end of January and have already settled in to their extremely comfortable new home. With our proven concept of ‘open residences’, we promote social contacts between residents and members of the local community. At the same time, we offer an attractive programme of events and activities to make sure our residents feel completely at home here. We also focus on our staff, as they are the foundation of our high-quality care. We had a highly capable team in place for the official opening and are currently looking for additional support in our care team, in particular for extra care professionals and care assistants as occupancy increases.”

compassio care facility in Dessau with extensive care and service offer

The new residence is a state-of-the-art care facility with 141 places for inpatient long-term and short-term care as well as four assisted living units. The wheelchair-accessible, five-storey building with around 7,600 square metres of gross floor area (GFA) was built according to the energy-efficient KfW 40 standard. The modern rectilinear facade will ensure that the residence is an architectural eye-catcher, with a light colour scheme that blends harmoniously with its surrounding buildings.

On the ground floor, the friendly foyer with reception area and lounge extends a warm welcome to guests and residents alike. These are complemented by a restaurant with fresh cuisine and terrace, a hair and chiropody salon, a fireside lounge, an in-house laundry and a range of treatment and therapy rooms. The restaurant and hair/chiropody salon is also open to members of the local community, thereby strengthening ties between the residents and their neighbours. Also on the ground floor, but accessible via a separate entrance, are four assisted living units. These modern units are between 34 and 60 square metres, with living rooms and bedrooms, a kitchenette, a bathroom, a hallway and a storage room. Each unit is also equipped with its own terrace.

On the first to fourth floors, the 141 nursing rooms are divided into eight living groups to ensure a high level of social interaction between residents. All of the rooms are bright single rooms with private bathrooms and barrier-free design. These include 35 fully wheelchair accessible rooms designed to meet the needs of wheelchair users. Residents will be able to furnish some of the rooms themselves to create a private, homely atmosphere and add to the cosy comforts. On each floors, the eight living groups have their own communal kitchens and living areas with balcony access. Therapy rooms, nursing and wellness bathrooms are also available.

A high-quality, landscaped garden with a stone fountain, fruit trees and extensive greenery enhances the feel-good factor of the new residence. In addition to a spacious communal terrace, there are further specially designed areas for rest and relaxation.

Ideal location for residents, guests and staff

The compassio Seniorenresidenz Wolfgangstraße is located in the city centre with optimal public transport links. The zoo, Schillerpark, shops, doctors, leisure and social facilities are all within easy walking distance. There are 22 parking spaces for cars and 14 for bicycles on the grounds, guaranteeing perfect accessibility for visitors and staff alike.

Building in accordance with high-quality, individual standard

The new building has been designed and built in accordance with the Cureus standard for system care homes. This places great importance on uniform, high quality standards and is oriented, among other things, towards the requirements of the operators, focusing on the residents and care staff. In this way, the structural processes and all properties are optimised from the inside to the outside: This concerns, for example, the size and arrangement of rooms to optimize space and walkways. Cureus care homes are also designed and equipped for maximum utility: interior corridors benefit from as much daylight as possible, every room has floor-to-ceiling windows that provide attractive views of the surrounding area, and the modern bathrooms and window fronts always follow the same standardised system approach. Each complex’s architecture and facade incorporate individual touches and are constructed to the highest quality standards, integrating seamlessly into their surroundings. The Cureus system approach also prioritises sustainability, both in terms of a care home’s long-term economic viability and its impact on the environment. All Cureus care homes are, for example, constructed in accordance with the ‘Effizienhaus-40-Standard’, while the bulk procurement of floor coverings or elevator systems, for example, ensures cost synergies and long-term maintenance contracts covering several properties also reduce costs for care home operators. The constant review and optimisation of the Cureus system care home standard guarantees the construction of care homes that truly meet demand.
