Hamburg/Winsen (Aller)/Essen-Altenessen, 25 April 2023. Cureus, an integrated property company that specialises in developing and actively managing its own inpatient care home portfolio, and Belia, as the future operator of the senior residence Essen-Altenessen, today hosted a topping-out ceremony. Among the guests were Essen‘s Lord Mayor Thomas Kufen, District Mayor Hans-Willi Zwiehoff and Klaus Hagen, First Deputy Mayor and Councillor of the City of Essen. The traditional ceremony featured a topping-out wreath, speeches, and the hammering in of the final nail into the roof structure. About 100 visitors enjoyed food and drink after the ceremony and were keen to find out more about the new senior residence. The construction site is located at Altenessener Straße 344-348/Wilhelm-Nießwandt-Allee 67-69 in 45326 Essen-Altenessen. Cureus is itself the executing general contractor.

"At the beginning of this construction project, we carefully demolished the old buildings, keeping in mind especially the protection of the adjacent buildings in this perimeter block development," explains Uwe Poganiatz-Heine, Cureus project manager. "Now we are integrating our new building harmoniously into the ensemble and would like to celebrate the progress of construction today in the traditional way with all those involved in the construction and express our thanks to them for what they have achieved so far. With the completion of the roof, we are now independent of the weather and can now fully tackle the interior work. I am optimistic that we will be able to hand over to our proven, professional operating partner Belia in the fourth quarter of 2023."

Christoph Laube from Human Resources Management at Belia Seniorenresidenzen also thanks the teams on the construction site and is pleased with the progress of the project: "Our second location in Essen is being built here and with it a unique building ensemble with a feel-good character, which will be characterised by high-quality, age-appropriate interior design and exterior architecture as well as friendly and senior-friendly living areas, modern assisted living apartments and a friendly day care. The opening is planned for the fourth quarter of 2023. With the concept of ‚open residences‘, we promote the social and societal contacts of the residents with the local environment. In addition to quality care and nursing, we offer an attractive programme of events and leisure activities to ensure that our residents feel completely at ease - true to our motto, 'Belia – Besser Leben im Alter".
