Hamburg/Ulm/Gotha, 7 April 2021. Cureus GmbH specialises in the design, planning and construction of system care homes and has announced the completion of the new SCHÖNES LEBEN Gotha am Neumarkt assisted living complex. After just 16 months of construction, the new complex comprises 69 assisted living apartments, 11 residential units for out-of-hospital intensive care and 20 outpatient care places on a 3,260-square-metre site at Margarethenstrasse 1-13/Gerbergasse, 99867 Gotha. The complex is entirely barrier-free and is designed and built in accordance with KfW 40 energy-efficiency standards. The SCHÖNES LEBEN Group will provide care services and operate the intensive and nursing care facilities.

“We are delighted to be able to provide vital and urgently needed residential and care capacities, combined with attractive architecture and modern standards, for seniors in Gotha. The location couldn’t be more central and the construction process couldn’t have been smoother”, says Marko Stegmaier, Head of Construction at Cureus. “We are also pleased that with the SCHÖNES LEBEN Group we have an experienced and renowned operator that provides the best in modern living, individual support and personal care throughout Germany”.

“In a prime inner-city location on the bustling Neumarkt, we now offer state-of-the-art assisted living apartments for residents who both value their independence and want to take advantage of individual and professional care services”, says Marc Hildebrand, Managing Sirector of the SCHÖNES LEBEN Group. “We offer a comprehensive range of services to ensure that residents live a comfortable and enjoyable life. For example, residents in Gotha can look forward to household support, professional outpatient care, a meal service, car sharing and much more besides. Right now, only 23 apartments with floor plans from 50 to 130 square metres are still available for rent. Interested parties are welcome to contact us on 0800 7244611 or email Gotha@Schoenes-Leben.org”. The apartment complex will create a total of 65 crisis-proof jobs in Gotha.

The Lord Mayor of Gotha, Knut Kreuch, is also overjoyed with the upgrading of the city centre: “The city-centre location, right next to St. Margaret’s Church in Neumarkt, with its wide range of stores and market stalls and rich array of restaurants and eateries, leaves nothing to be desired. SCHÖNES LEBEN enriches Gotha, allowing us to join together to combine tradition and modernity and promote a respectful and harmonious coexistence”.

About SCHÖNES LEBEN Gotha am Neumarkt

The five-storey apartment building completes the edge of the city block along Margarethenstrasse, restoring it to its original, historical shape. The close-sectioned facade integrates perfectly with the surrounding buildings, and a suitable solution was also found for the listed superstructure of the Leine Canal that runs through the property.
The complex’s 80 apartments have between 1.5 and 4 rooms with floor plans ranging from 40 to 130 square metres. Each unit has a living room, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, and storage room. Almost all of the apartments also have a balcony or a private roof terrace. Numerous communal rooms are available to the residents throughout the complex, from the ground floor up.

The new inner courtyard accommodates a green area with its own Kneipp bath, which serves as a meeting zone for residents from the assisted living apartments and guests from the outpatient care facility. The ground floor is home to a hair salon, a pedicure salon and a restaurant with an outdoor area, which is also open to the general public. The site also boasts 13 bicycle and 22 car parking spaces, some of which are equipped with electric vehicle charging stations supplied by the photovoltaic system on the roof of the apartment building.

Sample floor plans, interior views, the catalogue of services and additional information are all available in the project brochure from the SCHÖNES LEBEN Group.

Apartment complex constructed to Cureus’ high-quality standard

The apartment complex is designed and built in accordance with the Cureus standard for system care homes. This standard is based on exacting and uniform quality standards and is oriented to the needs of all stakeholders, including care home operators and residents. Care homes built to the Cureus standard are optimised in all respects and include, for example, optimised floor plans and conveniently arranged rooms and walkways. Cureus care homes are also designed and equipped for maximum utility: interior corridors benefit from as much daylight as possible, every room has floor-to-ceiling windows that provide attractive views of the surrounding area, and the modern bathrooms and window fronts follow the same standardised system approach. Each complex’s architecture and facade incorporate individual touches and are constructed to the highest quality standards, integrating seamlessly into their surroundings. The Cureus system approach also prioritises sustainability, both in terms of a care home’s long-term economic viability and its impact on the environment. All Cureus care homes are, for example, constructed in accordance with the KfW 40 energy-efficiency standard, while the bulk procurement of floor coverings and elevator systems, for example, ensures cost synergies and long-term maintenance contracts covering several properties also reduce costs for care home operators. The constant review and optimisation of the Cureus system care home standard guarantees the construction of care homes that truly meet demand
